Your Mess Is Mine
I'll remember Cassia and Nathan's wedding day as a series of quiet moments. Her lying on the floor in the downstairs room of the church where in just 30 minutes she would be walking down the aisle to get married. Playing with her sweet young niece. No evidence of nerves. The collective sighs of emotion as a church full of their closest family and friends breathed in the reverence that was such a priority to them both. The sound of a choir made up of some of their closest friends and neighbours offering them this gift of their time and song. The simple and true words read to them by people who will love and support them throughout their lives. The priest cracking jokes, while pouring words of blessing over them. The exultant cheer and and applause that burst forth from their guests as they were pronounced "husband and wife" for the first time...
The way her whole being seemed to shift, as though the label of "wife" dropped into her very soul. The way the community leapt at the opportunity to share stories and memories with the couple. The way his hand squeezed her shoulder as her sister blessed her. The glisten in his eyes as her mother thanked him for the man he was and expressed her gratitude and joy that her daughter had found such a husband. The children dancing around the room, the laughter, the good-natured teasing...
I wish you both all the love and happiness. Thank you for asking me to be a part of capturing your day.
